For over 20 years, I worked in corporate America for household names like PacifiCare, Washington Mutual, Toyota, and American Honda.  During that time, I managed people, projects, and a variety of training and IT initiatives.  I loved the teams I built, and our accomplishments were many.  But something was always missing.

Despite the prevalence of big titles, big buildings, and big budgets, I noticed low morale among fellow employees and managers. This was so pervasive that after several years, it started to seem normal.

Culture statements that hung lifelessly on the wall touted the value of teamwork and personal integrity, and the high expectation of quality. But ignoring those values seemed normal.  Promoting people who didn’t make waves and shushing people with the creative ideas seemed normal.  Indecisiveness and ducking personal responsibility seemed normal.  Dreading Mondays… so many Mondays... was normal.   

No matter how productive and personally satisfied my teams were, there was no changing the larger environment in which we were forced to work. Finally, a few years ago, I had had enough. I quit.  That moment turned out to be the beginning of a beautiful adventure in which I discovered an amazing world of other entrepreneurs who had taken the brave step of starting their own ventures. 

And that moment also turned out to be the point at which I dedicated myself to helping those entrepreneurs in achieving their dream of pleasurable, profitable, and fulfilling businesses.  No one – not the owner of a business or the people working there – should dread Mondays.
